PINE RIDGE, S.D. – Buche Foods and Buche’s Gus Stop have been selected to participate in Double Up Food Bucks, a program that helps families using SNAP stretch their grocery dollars and purchase more fresh fruits and vegetables.

Buche Foods and Buche’s Gus Stop are the first and currently the only retailers in South Dakota participating in Double Up Food Bucks. The program is available at all Buche Foods locations, along with Buche’s Gus Stop locations in Wanblee and Lower Brule.

Double Up Food Bucks gives SNAP customers additional purchasing power for eligible fresh fruits and vegetables, helping families in rural and tribal communities across South Dakota stretch their grocery dollars and bring more fresh food home.

Double Up was piloted in Detroit in 2009 before expanding across the country. Today, Double Up is offered in dozens of states at more than 900 locations, from farmers markets to grocery stores.

“We’re honored to have been selected to be part of Double Up Food Bucks and to offer it in the communities we serve,” said RF Buche, President of G.F. Buche Co. “We know every grocery dollar matters. Helping families make those dollars go further while putting more fresh food on the table is something we’re proud to be part of.”

Participating locations include Buche Foods in Gregory, Mobridge, Mission, Oacoma, Pine Ridge, Wagner, and Buche’s Gus Stop in Lower Brule and Wanblee.

Double Up Food Bucks is fueled by Fair Food Network, a national nonprofit whose mission is to grow community health and wealth through food.
