Rapid City, SD – On Friday, Zaccy Moon and I, Brandon Jones, took a tour of the new house being built in Rapid City.  What an amazing and awesome time to have early access to such an amazing facility that is aimed to help families starting later this year.  We brought Caramel Rolls and Coffee from Colonial House of Rapid City, a part of our weekly Kitchen and Bath Showcase Warmup brought to you by The Kitchen and Bath Showcase and Colonial House Restaurant and Bar of Rapid City.  Find out more about that at foxradio.com

Now for the tour!  What a thoughtful and spacious lay out, with everything you could think of for a family in need.  If you think about it, a family that is staying at this house has enough on their plate.  Food, laundry, family and work just to name a few things they can help you with.  You will be able to exercise, game and relax and gather your thoughts in multiple spots and multiple ways.  This is truly a blessing for our community.

The Ronald McDonald House Charities of South Dakota facility planned for Rapid City aims to provide comfort and support for families with children receiving medical care in western South Dakota.

The organization, known for offering housing and resources to families with hospitalized children, is expanding its reach with a new “House in the Hills” project near Monument Health.

The facility will be located at the corner of East Fairmont Boulevard and Elm Avenue, just blocks from the hospital, allowing families to stay close to their children during treatment.

Plans call for a 12-bedroom house, with each room featuring a private bathroom. The building will also include a shared kitchen, lounge areas, children’s play spaces, laundry facilities and offices for on-site staff.

Officials say the house could serve more than 600 families annually, helping ease the financial and emotional burden for those traveling long distances for pediatric care.

The Rapid City project builds on decades of service by the organization in South Dakota. Since 1983, thousands of West River families have stayed at Ronald McDonald Houses in Sioux Falls while their children received treatment, logging tens of thousands of overnight stays.

Ronald McDonald House Charities operates globally with a mission to remove barriers to care, strengthen families and promote healing for children facing serious illnesses.

Fundraising efforts are ongoing for the Rapid City facility, with millions of dollars already raised toward the project’s goal. Leaders say the expansion reflects growing demand in the region, with projections indicating the need could reach nearly 20 families per day by 2030.

Once completed, the Rapid City Ronald McDonald House is expected to provide a home away from home for families across western South Dakota, ensuring they can remain close to their children during some of the most challenging moments of their lives.
