CUSTER, S.D. – At the Qury Fire, containment continues to increase as mop up efforts remain successful throughout the fire perimeter.

The fire is 57-percent contained and is at 9,163 acres.

Firing operations were completed around the perimeter to create more solid black line and increase confidence in containment.

Rehabilitation of dozer lines and hand lines continue as crews work to restore the landscape to the way it was before the fire. Demobilization of firefighters will begin today and continue through the weekend. This is a planned effort given conditions and the need for resources to be available to respond to other incidents.

Warm and dry conditions will continue and dust will remain in the area on roadways with firefighting efforts.

Residents are asked to please drive slowly, keep your head lights on, and be prepared for low visibility on gravel roads.
