STURGIS, S.D. – Tuesday’s election featured several county commission races.
In Meade County, Glen Haines edged out three other candidates in District 1 with Philip Nelson winning in District 3.
Haines now moves to the November general election and will face Independent candidate Lisa Schieffer, a former county auditor. Nelson will face Independent candidate Bob Burns, a former school board member, in November.
In Lawrence County, Mike Davies, Robert Haiwick and Eric Jennings win the primary for three seats on the commission. There could be a recount in this race with Brandon Flanagan finishing just nine votes back of Jennings.
In Butte County, Doug Larson wins while in Custer County, a crowded ballot for three seats on the commission could trigger a recount. Jesse Sorenson, Criag Hindle and Marty Mechaley are the top three vote-getters.
In Pennington County, Tina Mullaley wins the Auditor race with Mike Mueller and Deb Hadcock winning the primary for the commission.
In Harding County, Kacie Turbiville wins a race for Register of Deeds.
