RAPID CITY, S.D. – Delta Air Lines will offer nonstop weekend service between Rapid City Regional Airport (RAP) and Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW) from August 8 through August 16, 2026, providing additional air service during the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.
The seasonal service is timed to one of the busiest travel periods of the year in western South Dakota. The Sturgis Motorcycle Rally draws hundreds of thousands of visitors to the Black Hills each August and creates a sharp increase in passenger demand at Rapid City Regional Airport. Detroit is a strong origin and destination market for Rapid City, particularly during Rally season. In addition to serving local demand, the route gives travelers access to Delta’s broader network through DTW, including connections throughout the Midwest, East Coast, and international markets.
“We appreciate Delta’s continued investment in the Rapid City market and their decision to add this nonstop service during one of the busiest travel periods of the year,” said Patrick Dame, Executive Director of Rapid City Regional Airport. “This service gives travelers another direct option during the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally and helps meet the seasonal demand we see each August.”
The Sturgis Motorcycle Rally is scheduled for August 7 through August 16, 2026. Delta’s service window aligns with the Rally travel period and helps meet demand during one of the busiest stretches of the year for travel to and from the Black Hills.
Flights will operate on 76-seat aircraft.
Tickets are available through Delta Air Lines at delta.com.
