RAPID CITY, S.D. – Police in Rapid City arrested three individuals Sunday evening following the theft of a delivery driver’s vehicle that led to a hit-and-run collision and a multi-agency response across the city.
At approximately 7:00 p.m. on Sept. 20, Rapid City police officers responded to a restaurant at 701 E. North St. for a reported vehicle theft. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the reporting party, who stated they were working as a DoorDash delivery driver picking up an order. The driver left a blue Nissan passenger car parked, unlocked, and running outside the business. When the driver exited the restaurant, the vehicle was missing.
A short time later, authorities received a report of a blue Nissan passenger car striking another vehicle in a parking lot at 1607 Space Ave. The impact tore the bumper off the stolen Nissan before the driver fled the scene.
At approximately 9:35 p.m., police responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle at a gas station located at 3540 Sturgis Road. Witnesses reported that a group of individuals arrived in the vehicle, parked it, and walked away after stating they would not return for it.
Arriving officers identified the vehicle as the stolen Nissan and noted extensive front-end damage.
Law enforcement located several individuals walking along the roadway nearby and detained them. Surveillance video from the gas station confirmed their association with the stolen vehicle.
Police identified and arrested three individuals:
- Aarenee Hollowhorn, 25, charged with open container in public, possession of a stolen vehicle, and two outstanding warrants.
- Asia Hollowhorn-Cutt, 19, charged with possession of a stolen vehicle.
- Trevor Sierra, 23, charged with possession of a stolen vehicle.
