RAPID CITY, S.D. – High temperatures in Rapid City have prompted an early release for 10 local schools on Thursday, Sept. 10.

The schedule adjustment impacts Grandview, Horace Mann, Meadowbrook, Rapid Valley, Robbinsdale, Pinedale, South Canyon, South Park, and Wilson elementary schools, along with North Middle School.

District buses will run on an adjusted schedule to align with the earlier release times. All after-school activities scheduled at these Rapid City schools are canceled for the day.

School officials addressed the community regarding the schedule change, stating, “Thank you for your flexibility as we prioritize student and staff safety.”

Thursday’s forecast shows a high of 90 degrees with a humidity of 30-40%.
