RAPID CITY, S.D. – The FBI Minneapolis Field Office is requesting the public’s help to identify the person or persons responsible for the disappearance and presumed death of Alejandro Pilar Vasquez, a resident of Kyle, South Dakota.
Vasquez, who goes by the alias “Tank,” was last seen by family members on Oct. 29, 2015, on American Horse Creek Road near Kyle, located on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. He was 24 years old at the time he vanished and would be 35 years old today. Vasquez is described as a Native American male, standing 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing 189 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair.
The FBI is investigating the matter as a presumed death investigation on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation under jurisdiction granted by the Major Crimes Act. As part of a resource surge into Indian Country investigations through Operation Steadfast Promise and Operation Not Forgotten, federal officials are offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the identification, arrest, and conviction of those responsible for his death.
“The FBI is dedicated to finding justice for all crime victims,” said FBI Minneapolis Field Office Special Agent in Charge Christopher D. Dotson. “Even the smallest fact could help bring answers to a grieving family. There is no better time than now to come forward with information that will answer the outstanding questions about Mr. Vasquez’ disappearance.”
Anyone residing in Rapid City or surrounding regions with information regarding the disappearance or death of Vasquez is asked to contact the FBI at (800) CALL-FBI, reach out to their local FBI office, contact the nearest American Embassy or Consulate, or submit a tip online at tips.fbi.gov.
