RAPID CITY, S.D. – Families looking for relief from the summer heat have a free opportunity for fun tonight as the Rapid City Parks and Recreation Department kicks off its second annual Family Night at the Pool.

The first of two scheduled summer sessions will take place from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Jimmy Hilton Sioux Park Pool. The event is open to the public and completely free of charge for families.

Tonight’s activities in Rapid City will feature music, organized games, and various prizes, with concession stands open for attendees throughout the evening.

“Everyone had a blast last year and we are excited to host the family night events again this summer,” said Rapid City Recreation Specialist Lindsey Myers. “It’s a fun and free event for families to spend a great time together at the pool with an evening of games, prizes and fun.”

For residents who cannot make tonight’s event, the Parks and Recreation Department has scheduled a second Family Night at the Pool on July 22 at the Parkview Pool.

For more information regarding the event, community members can contact Myers at the Rapid City Parks and Recreation office at 605-394-4175.
