STURGIS, S.D. – In their latest rally-stats report, the Highway Patrol reported three injury crashes and a handful of non-injury crashes on Wednesday as the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally heads into its final weekend.
The three injury crashes happened on Wildlife Loop Road in Custer State Park, Highway 16A and on I-90 at mile marker 45.
The number of injury crashes on the year total 26 with the number of non-injury crashes totaling 14. That number has changed due to the removal of accidents that occurred during severe weather conditions. The patrol reports those incidents are not included because, under current guidelines, accidents caused by cataclysmic events are considered non-reportable.
In other stats, the patrol reported 13 D-U-I arrests Wednesday, sending the yearly total to 82. There were 20 misdemeanor drug arrests and 8 felony drug arrests. Those totals are 149 and 65 respectively on the year.
The patrol has handed out 1,133 total citations and 3,224 warnings.
