Kathy Lynn Conn August 23, 1956 – September 28, 2026 With hearts full of gratitude and sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Kathy Lynn Conn, on September 28, 2026 at the age of 70. In her last days, she was surrounded by her loving spouse, children and grandchildren in Rapid City, SD. Kathy was born on August 23, 1956 in Kansas City, MO to Leroy and Lavern Morrison. Her family moved to Lebanon, MO 13 years later where she graduated from Lebanon High School class of 1974. During her children’s younger years she practiced cosmetology and worked at Lebanon School district as a cook. In 1992, Kathy began working at Lebanon Head Start where she worked for 23 years. In her later years she moved to be closer to her children; first moving to Republic, MO in 2020 and later moving to Rapid City, SD in 2024. Kathy’s heart was always with her family; she was especially proud of her children and grandchildren. She was always willing to go out of her way to be there for them. Kathy would often surprise them by driving hours just to drop off their favorite food or just give a hug. She also frequently drove cross country to visit them. Kathy always knew how to make us smile. Even in her later years she founds ways to say or do something to catch us off guard to make moments with her memorable. Kathy is preceded in death by her father, Leroy Morrison. She is survived by her mother, Lavern (Clough) Morrison of St. Louis, MO; her husband, Walter of Rapid City, SD; her children, Aaron Conn and his wife Melanie of Las Vegas, NV, Rachelle Roberts and her husband Brett of Rapid City, SD; six grandchildren, Quentin Roberts, Eliana Roberts, Natalie Roberts, Wesley Conn, Leland Roberts, and Amelia Roberts; two brothers, William Morrison of Lebanon, MO and Steven D. Morrison of St. Louis, MO. Kathy adored children and found her place working at Lebanon Head Start for 23 years. While there she ensured every child had a healthy meal and went home with a full belly. Her huge heart and caring spirit touched the lives of her coworkers, the children, and families of Head Start. She often worried about families with the most need having enough and would give out of her own pocket to ensure their needs were met. At Kathy’s request there will be no services held. To honor Kathy, memorial donations may be made to MOCA Head Start Lebanon (417) 532-4989 to help provide food boxes for families during the upcoming holiday season.
