RAPID CITY, S.D. – Rapid City Police arrested a man on several charges following a low-speed chase Sunday afternoon. At around 3:50 p.m. on June 21 st , police were dispatched to a residence in the 100 block of Crescent Drive for a report of a male parked in an SUV in the driveway who was known to be huffing air duster. Police arrived on scene and located the vehicle parked in the driveway. The male driver, later identified as 35-year-old Miles Makesgood of Rapid City, was observed in the vehicle. Officers parked near the suspect vehicle in an attempt to pin it and keep the vehicle from leaving. The driver drove around the police units, and police pursued the vehicle. The low-speed pursuit went through Star Village, where the vehicle drove through a yard in the unit block of E. Signal Drive. Police were able to successfully deploy spike strips to deflate the vehicle’s tires in the area of East Boulevard and Quincy Street. The vehicle eventually drove back to Star Village, where it came to a stop in the 100 block of E. Signal Drive. Makesgood exited the vehicle and was detained without further incident. A search of his person turned up a can of air duster, which was cold to the touch. He was determined to be too impaired to safely operate a motor vehicle. Ultimately, Makesgood was placed under arrest for the following charges before being transported to the Pennington County Jail: · Ingesting a Substance Other than Alcohol to Intoxicate · DUI (2 nd ) · Reckless Driving · 2 nd Degree Eluding · Driving on the Wrong Side of the Road · Driving Under Suspension · Possession of Revoked, Altered, or Fictitious Driver’s License
