RAPID CITY, S.D. — A 29-year-old Rapid City woman has been sentenced to roughly eight-and-a-half months in jail following the discovery of human remains in a local hotel room earlier this year. Diana Hairy Shirt received a 260-day jail sentence from a Pennington County judge after pleading guilty to failing to notify authorities of a death and violating burial permit requirements. She will receive credit for time already served. The charges arise from a July police investigation at the Rodeway Inn on North LaCrosse Street, where officers discovered the body of 33-year-old Jason Horned Eagle. Investigators believe Horned Eagle’s body had remained inside the hotel room for several months before being found. Hairy Shirt is one of three Rapid City residents charged in connection with the case. Proceedings against the two remaining co-defendants are still ongoing. Share via: Facebook Twitter LinkedIn More
