STURGIS, S.D. – The Sturgis City Council met for their second meeting in September Monday night and approved a resolution that will establish the Sturgis Pickleball Fund. Sturgis Public Works Director says the established fund will provide a dedicated opportunity for individuals and organizations wishing to financially support public pickleball facilities in Sturgis. Bush says the proposed resolution is modeled after a separate resolution recently passed that establishes the Sturgis Animal Shelter Fund. Bush says this resolution only establishes the mechanism so fund-raising can begin as they continue to work on specific details of the project. The council also approved an authorization to obtain specialized information technology professional services beyond the scope of the city’s existing general I.T. support arrangement. Sturgis City Administrator Rhea Crane says she and Mayor Bradley had been discussing I.T. security after the cyberattack that his Pennington County earlier this year. Sturgis City Administrator Rhea Crane says the professional services, to be provided by Tony Musilek, would address specific technical needs, including cybersecurity, system administration and other operational I.T. matters, while allowing the city to maintain its current general I.T. support structure. Crane says Musilek’s responsibilities would include network maintenance, email exchange management, monthly reporting, remote I.T. support and on-site support. The city would compensate the contractor $45.00 per hour. Share via: Facebook Twitter LinkedIn More
