Keith Harry Lau, born May 6, 1938, was the son of Harry and Laura Lau. He spent much of his later life in Rapid City, South Dakota, leaving behind a legacy of entrepreneurial spirit, hard work, and dedicated community service.
Keith married Lona Lea Haag on January 14, 1957. In the early years of their marriage, the couple resided in Seattle, Washington, where Keith worked for a local printing company and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Bookbinders. Following the birth of their son, Jeff, the family returned to the Redfield area and farmed near the family homestead.
In March 1983, the family sold the farm and relocated to the Rapid City area. Keith was employed at Black Hills Pack before venturing into business for himself. Along with operating a maintenance business, he purchased and managed several rental properties.
In 1995, Keith and his family purchased property on Hisega Road. Never one to shy away from new opportunities, Keith raised and bred ostriches, operated a worm business, and later established a saw sharpening business. His entrepreneurial spirit, strong work ethic, and willingness to try new ventures were hallmarks of his life.
Keith was also dedicated to serving his community. As one of the founding members of the Hisega Meadows Water District, he played a key role in organizing and implementing a new water system that resulted in the installation of new water lines throughout the district in 2016, leaving a lasting impact on the community he called home.
Keith passed away on June 16, 2026.
