Charlotte Williamson was born September 26, 1942. She was the daughter of Ralph and Viola Williamson. Char grew up in the Vale area, where she also graduated from high school. Char was united in marriage to Ed Helmer on June 5, 1960 in Sturgis. To this union 4 children were born: Christy, Kelly, Monty, and Jennel. Following their marriage, Ed and Char ranched west of Belle Fourche, across the Wyoming state line. In 1984 they moved to the north side of Belle Fourche and Ed worked for area ranchers. In June of 2021, Char and Ed moved into the Hickory House. Together, Ed and Char were blessed with 61 years of marriage, before Ed’s passing in 2022.

Char loved her grandchildren and she will be remembered for being a strong woman with an independent spirit. Her faith in the Lord was strong, and she loved reading her Bible. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother, and she’ll be missed greatly.

Char is survived by her son, Monty (Teresa) of Cartersville, Georgia; daughters, Christy (Colin) Knuteson of New Town, North Dakota, Kelly (Ed) Chuck of Royse City, Texas, Jennel Johnson of Mitchel NE; 18 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and her sister, Marge of Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, David and Wes Williamson; sister, Jeanette Hawley; and son-in-law, Dan Johnson.
