Police say around 5:00 p.m. on August 25th, they were dispatched to East Omaha Street and Cambell Street for a report of a crash that had just occurred. On arrival, police spoke to witnesses and determined a black passenger vehicle had struck several other vehicles at the intersection.

Police made contact with the driver of the black passenger vehicle and identified him as 40-year-old Tyler Paris of Rapid City.

Police noted the strong smell of an alcoholic beverage coming him and authorities administered a preliminary breath test, which registered at a.426 % blood alcohol content (more than five times the legal limit to drive).

Following a DUI investigation, it was determined Paris was too impaired to safely operate a motor vehicle.
