STURGIS, S.D. – The Meade County Sheriff’s Office says one person has been arrested following a shooting that occurred in the 21000 block of Pleasant Valley Road Monday morning.

Law enforcement were called to the location shortly after 9:30 and upon arrival, they located an adult female victim inside a travel trailer. Authorities say she had sustained serious, non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Monument Hospital for treatment.

A Florida man, identified as 50-year-old Christopher Nappa, was arrested in connection with the shooting. It is believed the suspect and victim did not know each other and were in separate trailers at the time of the shooting.  

Nappa was facing charges of simple assault and reckless discharge of a firearm. He was taken to the Meade County Jail.
