PINE RIDGE, SD – The Oglala Sioux Tribe Department of Public Safety (OSTDPS) announced Monday morning that a recent law enforcement operation led to the seizure of a significant cache of illegal contraband and the arrest of several individuals.
Following the execution of a search warrant within the community, tribal officers recovered a large quantity of alcohol intended for illegal distribution, commonly referred to as bootlegging. In addition to the alcohol, authorities seized multiple stolen firearms, ammunition, and an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency.

OSTDPS officials stated that the operation is part of an ongoing effort to curb illegal activities that threaten public safety in the region, which serves as a major neighbor to the Rapid City area.
“Let this serve as a warning: illegal activity, including bootlegging and possession of stolen firearms, will not be tolerated,” the department said in a released statement. “OSTDPS will continue to actively investigate and pursue those who threaten the safety of our community.”
The names of the individuals taken into custody have not yet been released pending formal charges. Tribal police emphasized that those involved in similar criminal enterprises should expect targeted enforcement action as investigations continue.
