RAPID CITY, S.D. – Rapid City Police say two juvenile males were arrested early Tuesday morning following a report of shots fired in the area of Lindbergh Avenue.

As officers arrived to the location, they began searching the area and located several spent shell casings. Police then observed two subjects getting in to a vehicle and they initiated a traffic stop in the area of Holcomb Avenue and Anamosa Street.

As police spoke to the driver, they observed two juvenile males in the back seat. Police also observed a shotgun sitting on the floor near their feet. The males were told to exit the vehicle but refused. Officers were forced to physically remove the males from the backseat, and they continued to resist.

Despite their resistance, police were ultimately able to detain both males in handcuffs. They were both identified as the males responsible for the earlier gunshots call.

Police found the shotgun to be loaded and illegally-shortened.

Both juvenile males have since been placed in the appropriate channels of the juvenile justice system.

Police say it’s worth noting that one of the involved juvenile males was on probation, while the other was on parole.
