RAPID CITY, S.D. – A pedestrian received serious, life-threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle on Saint Joseph Street in Rapid City Thursday night.

Rapid City Police say they responded to the scene at around 6:15 p.m. where first responders began emergency life-saving measures on the injured pedestrian. The pedestrian was transported to the hospital for the treatment of serious, life-threatening injuries.

After speaking to witnesses, police determined the pedestrian had gotten a ride to the address. As he was exiting the vehicle, he fell into the south lane of travel on Saint Joseph Street, where he was immediately struck by a passing motor vehicle.

Police made contact with the driver of the vehicle that struck the pedestrian and alcohol or speed do not appear to be factors on the part of the driver of the vehicle that struck the pedestrian; however, the investigation into the crash remains active and ongoing.
