Big trucks, rescue vehicles, and family fun are returning to the Pennington County Highway Department! The Pennington County Roads & Rescue Experience will take place Thursday, September 10, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Pennington County Highway Department, 3601 Cambell Street in Rapid City.
This free, family-friendly event gives residents an opportunity to get an up-close look at the trucks, equipment and emergency vehicles that help keep Pennington County safe and moving. Kids can climb into the driver’s seat, explore the equipment and meet the people who operate it every day.
The event will bring together crews and equipment from the Pennington County Highway Department, Pennington County Sheriff’s Office, Pennington County Search and Rescue and local fire departments. Attendees will have the chance to meet county employees and first responders while learning more about the work they do throughout Pennington County.
“The Road & Rescue Experience is a great opportunity for families to come out, have some fun and meet the people who work every day to serve our communities,” said Joe Miller, Pennington County Highway Superintendent. “Kids love getting an up-close look at the trucks and equipment, and we enjoy having the chance to show residents what we do and answer their questions.”
In addition to exploring trucks and rescue equipment, families can enjoy kids’ activities and local food trucks throughout the evening.
The Pennington County Roads & Rescue Experience is free and open to the public, and no registration is required. Families are encouraged to stop by anytime between 4:00 and 7:00 p.m.
