LEAD, S.D. – The Lead Police Department arrested a man following a domestic incident late Tuesday night.

Police responded to Miners Avenue after a 9-1-1 caller reporter that a man was armed with a knife, making threats and that an elderly male inside the residence had sustained cuts and lacerations.

The victims were able to secure themselves in a back room of the home.

Upon arrival, officers encountered the male suspect outside the home still armed with a knife. Officers utilized a less-lethal option to safely disarm the individual, who was identified as 47-year-old Mickey Yost of Lead.

Lead Police say one of their officers sustained an injury during the incident and required medical attention, although they say the injury did not appear to be serious.

Yost was taken to the Lawrence County Jail.
