Rebecca “Becky” Brown, 67, of Belle Fourche, passed away Sunday, September 27, 2026, at home, surrounded by her loving family.
Becky was born December 8, 1958, in Miles City, Montana, to Shirley (Grant) and Eugene Heaps as the middle of five children. They moved throughout eastern Montana together before settling in Baker in 1967. She graduated from Baker High School in 1977 and married David Brown of Baker on March 20, 1982. Together they shared more than 44 wonderful years of marriage.
She held many jobs over the years, but she considered being a mother her most important and rewarding role. She was proud of her children and grandchildren and was always excited to spend time with them. Her children credit Becky with shaping their taste in movies and television. Her children grew up with the humor of Mel Brooks, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Hogan’s Heroes, Blackadder, My Fair Lady, and Christmas movies. These favorites made Becky laugh, which is a memory that will stay with her children every time they revisit them.
When her children were young, Becky loved taking them camping. In later years, she continued to enjoy summer camping trips with David, along with rides through the Black Hills in their side-by-side. Becky also loved dogs, her neighbors in Belle Fourche, and quiet time spent crafting, quilting, reading a good book, or playing games. Around the holidays, her peanut brittle and hot cocoa were something to look forward to—and her strawberry pretzel salad was a year-round family favorite.
Becky is survived by her husband, David, of Belle Fourche; her daughter, Melissa (Joseph) Bueno, of Sturgis; her son, Mathew (Tamra), of Rapid City; her grandchildren, Jakob, Seth, and Mak; her sister, Dianna Hoff, of Sidney, Montana; her brothers, Kenny (Cindy) Heaps and Tommy (Caroline) Heaps, both of Baker, Montana, and Donny Heaps, of Spokane, Washington; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Shirley and Eugene Heaps; her in-laws Fred and Foye Brown; her brother-in-law, Howard Hoff; and her niece, Chelsea Berler.
A celebration of Becky’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at Leverington Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche. There will be no visitation. Inurnment will take place at Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis. Following the inurnment, family and friends will gather for food and refreshments at the Branding Iron in Belle Fourche.
