PENNINGTON COUNTY, SD — Randy Decker today announced his candidacy for Pennington County Commissioner representing District 3, bringing decades of public service experience as a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, retired U.S. Army veteran, former law enforcement officer, former small business owner and current Investigator for the Pennington County Public Defender’s Office.
“Service has defined my life—from the military, to law enforcement, to my community,” Decker said. “I’m running for County Commissioner because Pennington County deserves steady leadership, fiscal discipline, and a commissioner who understands responsibility, accountability, and public safety.”
Decker emphasized that county government directly affects residents’ daily lives, including infrastructure, budgeting, emergency services, land use, and public safety. His campaign will focus on practical solutions, transparent decision-making, and responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars.
“As a veteran and former law enforcement officer, I understand the importance of clear priorities, chain of accountability, and making tough decisions,” Decker said. “County government should work for the people—not politics, not special interests.” Decker stated that he intends to be an independent voice not only for District 3 but all of Pennington County, committed to listening to constituents and challenging the status quo when it
fails to deliver results.
