RAPID CITY, S.D. – One person was hospitalized following a garage fire in Rapid City on Wednesday afternoon, according to fire officials.

The Rapid City Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire on the 4200 block of Range View Court shortly after 4 p.m. Wednesday.
Upon arrival, emergency crews observed light smoke coming from an attached garage. Bystanders at the scene informed firefighters that everyone had safely evacuated the home and that the fire was located inside the garage.

Fire crews entered the structure and confirmed a working fire within the garage while verifying that all occupants were out of the residence.

One individual sustained injuries during the incident and was transported to a local hospital for evaluation. Officials stated the injuries are considered non-life-threatening.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by Rapid City authorities.
