RAPID CITY, S.D. – A 23-year-old Rapid City man has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison for attempted child sexual exploitation crimes, U.S. Attorney Ron Parsons announced.
Kyle Beck was sentenced July 24 by U.S. District Judge Karen E. Schreier. Beck’s sentence includes 15 years in federal custody followed by five years of supervised release, along with an order to pay a $300 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.
Beck was convicted on May 12 following a court trial. He was originally indicted by a federal grand jury in March 2024 on charges of attempted sexual exploitation of a minor, attempted enticement of a minor using the internet, and attempted receipt of child pornography.
Evidence presented at trial established that on May 28, 2023, Beck messaged a 15-year-old girl via Instagram and requested sexually explicit photographs of her. Beck was later interviewed by law enforcement and admitted to the conduct.
The case was investigated by the South Dakota Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation, the Rapid City Police Department, and U.S. Department of Homeland Security-Homeland Security Investigations.
Supervisory Assistant U.S. Attorney Kirk Albertson prosecuted the case under Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide Department of Justice initiative launched in May 2006 to marshal federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children.
Beck was immediately remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.
