RAPID CITY, S.D. – Authorities in Rapid City are investigating an unattended death after a woman was found deceased early Monday morning.

Officers with the Rapid City Police Department were dispatched at approximately 6:30 a.m. July 20 to the 1400 block of Campbell Street following a report of an unresponsive female. Upon arriving at the scene, police located the woman and confirmed she was deceased.

According to police, initial observations revealed no obvious signs of trauma or significant injury that would contribute to her death.

An autopsy has been scheduled to help determine the exact cause of death.

The identity of the woman is being withheld pending the notification of next-of-kin.

The incident remains under investigation by the Rapid City Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division. Authorities urge anyone with information regarding the incident to contact police at 605-394-4134. Officials stated that further updates will be released as the investigation progresses.
