RAPID CITY, S.D. – Effective Monday, August 31st, the Rapid City Solid Waste Division is returning to weekly curbside recycling collection.
In early May, the city adjusted residential recycling services to be collected every other week. Beginning with next week’s routes, Rapid City residents will once again have their recycling materials collected every week on their regular collection day. This was voted on by the City Council. According to an official at Solid Waste, “Since we started in May, there has been a lot of public feedback that officials have received. The public does have a voice” and the decision to return to weekly pickups has returned.
Rapid City Solid Waste officials remind city customers to place recycling containers at the curb by 7 a.m. on their collection day. Residents must also keep recycling containers at least four feet away from other cans, containers and any other objects that could obstruct collection.
“We are excited to return to weekly recycling collection services,” said Rapid City Solid Waste Outreach Coordinator Ria Hannon. “We thank residents for their continued participation in the City’s recycling program.”
