The Rapid City Sports Hall of Fame will honor eight new inductees during a public banquet on Monday, May 4, at Lacroix Hall at The Monument. The event, organized by the Rapid City Sports Commission, is open to the community, with tickets priced at $35 and available in advance at simpletix.com. Doors open at 5 p.m. and the program begins at 5:45 p.m.

“Sports have long been part of Rapid City’s tapestry and it’s an honor to welcome new inductees into the Hall of Fame,” said Domico Rodriguez, Executive Director of the Rapid City Sports Commission. “We’d love to have as many locals as possible come and celebrate this year’s recipients, as well as our athletes of the year.”

2025 Hall of Fame Inductees

This year’s class recognizes athletes, coaches, and contributors across multiple sports and levels of competition. Craig Nowotny, the retired Athletic Director at St. Thomas More, and Dick Novak of the Rushmore Thunder each receive Hall of Fame Contributor honors.

Cooper Bowman is inducted as a Hall of Fame Professional Athlete in baseball, while Kelvin Torve, longtime coach of Post 22 Baseball, earns recognition in the Hall of Fame Coach category.

Two college athletes also receive awards. Simeon Birnbaum of the Oregon Ducks is named College Male Athlete of the Year, and Haleigh Timmer of Oklahoma State University takes the College Female Athlete of the Year title.

Abbie Cina, who competes with USA Lacrosse and Dakota Calamity Lacrosse, and Owen Johnson of the Rushmore Swim Team round out the inductee class.

Additional Awards on the Program

The banquet includes several other recognition categories beyond the Hall of Fame class. The Special Olympian of the Year, Rapid City Sports Association Member of the Year, and School of Mines Male and Female Athletes of the Year will all be announced during the evening.

High school athletes are also featured. Each Rapid City high school nominates candidates, the Rapid City Sports Association votes, and the High School Male and Female Athletes of the Year are revealed at the banquet.
