Paul Hendry inducted into the South Dakota High School Coaches Association Hall of Fame

Mitchell, SD. Last weekend longtime Stevens Track coach, Paul Hendry, was inducted into the South Dakota High School Coaches Association Hall of Fame.

Hendry is the head track and field coach at Rapid City Stevens, with 28 years coaching at the school. Hendry is a Stevens alum and still has the schools triple jump record. Hendry was the Rapid City Male Athlete of the year in 1987 and went onto the University of South Dakota to play football and run track.

He’s already in the Stevens Athletic Hall of Fame, the Howard Wood Dakota Relays Hall of Fame, and the USD Track & Field Hall of Honor. He was named the NHSACA National Girls Track & Field Coach of the Year in 2022, and has also been a finalist for the national coach of the year award.

Coach Hendry will no doubt be in the Rapid City Sports Hall of Fame when his coaching career is done but we want to thank coach Hendry for sharing his passion for track with Rapid City youth. Congratulations!
