Rapid City, S.D. – For a fifth consecutive year, local law enforcement officials are encouraging the public to participate in the ‘Fill a Patrol Car with School Supplies’ effort.

The Rapid City Police Department’s Community Engagement Team is hosting the annual event, scheduled at both Rapid City Walmart stores on August 5th from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Patrol cars and officers will be located near the entrances of both facilities to accept donations.

The school supply drive will, once again, be a joint effort between police and Cody Two Bulls. Two Bulls started the ‘Backpacks and Baseball’ school supply drive while he was a student at Central High School. Now, a graduate of Mahpiya Luta High School, Two Bulls is continuing his efforts to ensure local students are properly equipped as they head back to the classrooms.

“For the past several years, we’ve been honored to partner with Cody as he works to garner school supplies for area students in need,” says Rapid City Chief of Police Don Hedrick. “It’s inspiring to see a young member of our community work so hard to put the needs of others first, and we’re excited to support him as he does everything he can to help ensure other students have the gear they need to succeed in the classroom.”

Suggested school supplies for donation include color pencils, crayons, pencil cases, pens, pencils, folders, three-ring binders, paper, notebooks, ¼ inch graph paper, headphones, glue sticks, dry-erase or regular markers, scissors, calculators, and tissue boxes.
