Rebecca Leighann Shull was a loving wife, devoted mother, and a woman whose warm smile, kind heart, and caring personality left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her. She had a way of making people feel welcome and cared for, and she was always willing to lend a helping hand to someone in need.

Born on January 31, 1992, Rebecca was a longtime resident of the great state of North Carolina. She passed away on September 4, 2026, leaving behind a loving family and countless memories that will be treasured for years to come.

Rebecca’s greatest joy in life was her family. She cherished the time she spent with the people she loved and especially treasured being a mother to her daughter, Laincy Rae Lackey. Whether it was a simple day together or a special outing, Rebecca loved doing anything she could with her family. Her family was at the center of her world, and the love she had for them was evident in the way she lived her life.

Rebecca worked as a medical assistant and also spent time as a traffic control worker. Through her work and her everyday interactions, she had the opportunity to meet and help many people. Yet, perhaps the role that meant the most to her was being a mom. She embraced the time she had at home with her family and found fulfillment in caring for the people closest to her.

Rebecca loved going to the beach, playing golf, and, most of all, doing anything that allowed her to spend time with her family. She didn’t need elaborate plans or special occasions to be happy. Some of her best memories were simply made by being together with the people she loved.

Those who knew Rebecca will remember her especially for her smile and personality. She had a naturally caring spirit and was always helping someone. Her kindness was not something she simply talked about—it was something she lived. She was the kind of person who noticed when someone needed help and was willing to do what she could to make things a little easier.

Rebecca’s life may have been far too short, but the love she gave to others will continue through the people whose lives she touched. Her greatest legacy will be found not in possessions or accomplishments, but in the kindness she showed, the laughter and smiles she shared, and the memories she created with her family.

Rebecca is survived by her husband, Kevin Lackey; her daughter, Lainey Rae Lackey; her grandmother, Joyce Shull; her mother, Sherry White; her grandmother, Joanne Stevens; her brother, Jonathan Shull; her sister, Savannah Crooks; and other family members and loved ones.

She was preceded in death by her father, Keith Shull, and her grandfather, Forrest Shull.

Those who loved Rebecca will remember the beautiful smile that so often lit up her face, her caring personality, and the kindness she showed to others. They will remember a woman who loved the beach, enjoyed playing golf, and found her greatest happiness in simply being with her family. Most of all, she will be remembered for the love she gave so freely and the way she was always willing to help someone in need.

Rebecca leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will live on in her daughter, her family, and everyone whose life she touched. Though she is no longer here to share her smile or lend her helping hand, the memories she created and the love she gave will remain forever.

She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished by those who were blessed to call her wife, mother, daughter, sister, granddaughter, and friend.
