RAPID CITY, S.D. – If you’re looking for a wild adventure with a great cause, the Black Hills Raptor Center has just the ticket. Their third annual Poker Run is set to soar on Saturday, June 29, and it’s not just for bikers. Whether you drive a motorcycle, a classic car, or even mom’s minivan, everyone is invited to join the ride and support some incredible feathered friends.

The route starts and ends at the Raptor Center, tucked away just east of the Rapid City airport on Highway 44. Riders will cruise through the stunning Badlands with stops at the Pinnacles, the Ben Reifel Visitor Center, Wall Drug, and New Underwood. At each stop, guests will meet live bird ambassadors, including hawks, owls, vultures, and eagles. It’s a chance to experience the natural beauty of the region and connect with the birds that call it home.

This one-day-only event is extra special because the Raptor Center isn’t normally open to the public. As a working wildlife hospital, it typically requires an invitation to visit. But on poker run day, no appointment is needed. Just show up, have fun, and support the mission.

The donation to participate is just $10 for motorcycles or $20 for cars. Poker hands are optional, with one for $10 or three for $25. Prizes for the best and worst hands include one-of-a-kind artwork and a beautifully decorated animal skull.

All proceeds help finish construction on the center’s new rehabilitation building, which will provide care for injured and orphaned birds of prey across a 300-mile radius. Organizers hope to move in by late summer, and your support might just help put the final touches on the project.

No need to pre-register. Just grab your keys, call a friend, and join the flock on June 29. For more details, visit www.blackhillsraptorcenter.org or call 605-518-2009. You can also find the center on Facebook and Instagram.
