Rose Mary Saytor, 89, passed away on March 20, 2026, in Rapid City, South Dakota. Born on August 30, 1936 in Wheeling, WV, Rose was a woman defined by her devotion to her family and her adventurous spirit. A dedicated professional, Rose spent many years as a homemaker before embarking on a career as an accountant for the State of Washington, a role that showcased her hardworking nature. In her earlier years, she managed the frequent moves of a military spouse with grace, living in various locations across the country and Germany. She sewed and volunteered on base for a variety of activities. Later she addressed her fear of water by becoming a swimmer and competed with other seniors. She was an avid fan of going to baseball games and loved to dance so much that she served on the board for a senior dancing group. Her greatest joy, however, was her family; she was a best friend to her daughter, cherishing their 30 years of fun-filled vacations, science fiction movies, shared glasses of wine during happy hour, and competitive games of Scrabble. She loved the simple pleasures of life, from eating out to spending hours hunting for treasures at malls and flea markets.

Rose is survived by her children, Sharon Rose (Calvin Lee Havorka), of Rapid City and Carl Patrick Saytor Jr. (Amy Ruth Shapiro), of New York City. She is also survived by her brother, Anthony.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Stella Krupinski, and her siblings, Michael, Carolyn, Helen, Robert, and Herman. Upon her request cremation has taken place and no services are planned at this time. Friends and family may sign the online guest register and leave written condolences at WestRiverfd.com.

Arrangements are under the direction of Dean Moncur at West River Funeral Directors in Rapid City, SD.
