RAPID CITY, S.D. — A morning of community, purpose, and support is coming to Rapid City as Esthers Rising prepares to host its 3rd Annual Run for the One 5K.

The event invites runners and walkers of all fitness levels to gather at Founders Park for a scenic 3.1 mile course that travels through Rapid City’s park system before returning to the finish line. More than just a race, the event is designed to bring the community together around a mission of hope and restoration.

Run for the One supports Esthers Rising, a local faith based nonprofit that helps adolescent girls who have experienced sex trafficking and exploitation. Through advocacy, resources, and restorative support, the organization works to help young women rebuild their lives and step into healing and freedom.

The event will take place at Founders Park near the covered pavilion by the volleyball courts. Check in opens at 8:00 a.m. and the race will begin promptly at 9:00 a.m. Participants will run or walk the course from Founders Park to Sioux Park and back.

Organizers say the event is about more than just crossing a finish line. It is about recognizing that every life matters.

“Run for the One reflects the heart behind Esthers Rising’s mission — believing that every single life matters and is worthy of restoration,” the organization shared.

Participants will receive race materials including a T shirt and finisher medal during check in. Runners are encouraged to arrive early so they have time to pick up materials and prepare for the start of the race.

Community members are encouraged to bring friends, family, and coworkers to take part in the event. Whether someone is an experienced runner or simply wants to walk the course and show support, organizers say the morning is meant to be welcoming to everyone.

Events like Run for the One help raise both funds and awareness for the work Esthers Rising is doing in the region. The organization continues to provide support and resources for young women working to move forward after experiencing exploitation.

For many in the community, the race has become a meaningful way to stand together for hope, healing, and restoration.
