RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Black Hills Area Council celebrated its final official awards ceremony this week, honoring a distinguished group of Eagle Scouts, Explorers, and adult leaders from across the region. The event marked a historic milestone for scouting in Rapid City and the surrounding area as the council prepares for a formal consolidation.

The Black Hills Area Council has merged with the Sioux Council, which previously served the eastern portion of South Dakota. While representatives from the Sioux Council attended the ceremony to welcome the new members, officials noted that the consolidated organization will determine a new name in the near future.
