STURGIS, S.D. – The Sturgis City Council met last night for their first September meeting.
On the agenda was authorization to proceed with the city’s planned MH-1, or Mobile Home-1, Phase 2 planning review.
It authorizes the city’s planning and permitting department to begin conducting the phase 2 planning review for the MH-1 zoning areas.
The review deals with existing site-built homes within the zone and whether they should be allowed to expand, whether new site-built homes should be permitted and whether the underlying purpose or development standards of MH-1 should otherwise change.
Once a review is done, it would return to the Planning Commission for discussion. The City Council would have the final say on any recommendations concerning the future of the MH-1 zoning district.
The council also approved a couple of plat approvals on its consent agenda and okayed the mayor to send an engagement letter to Waeckerle Law, who could serve as outside legal counsel for the city should they need it.
