STURGIS, S.D. – A couple of road projects were slated to begin in Sturgis Wednesday.

Sturgis Public Works Director Rick Bush says construction on the Otter Road and Raccoon Road Street Improvement Project was set to start today.

The project will require temporary road closures, local access restrictions, and traffic detours throughout the construction period as work progresses along Otter Road and Raccoon Road. Portions of Otter Road between Pine Tree Trail and Vanocker Canyon Road, as well as Raccoon Road, may be closed to through traffic at various times during construction.

Bush says residents located within the project area should expect intermittent impacts to driveway access as work progresses.

Also, Sturgis Public Works was scheduled to perform maintenance on Sly Hill on Wednesday. Travelers of the road were being encouraged to use caution when approaching equipment and crews.
