China agrees to boost trade for US beef and poultry following Trump-Xi summit

WASHINGTON (AP) — China agreed to increase purchases of U.S. agricultural products, including beef and poultry, at an annualized rate of $17 billion through 2028 following President Donald Trump’s summit in Beijing, according to the White House. The agreement includes restoring market access for U.S. beef and resuming poultry imports from states deemed free of bird flu by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The deal comes as American farmers continue facing pressure from the ongoing trade war and rising fertilizer costs linked to shipping disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz. China’s Ministry of Commerce said both countries would work to address trade barriers and expand agricultural trade through reciprocal tariff reductions, though Beijing had not formally confirmed the full terms of the agreement. Mark Fuhrman, former LA police detective convicted of lying during OJ Simpson murder trial, has died

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Former Los Angeles police detective Mark Fuhrman, who was convicted of lying during testimony at the OJ Simpson murder trial, has died. He was 74. Fuhrman was one of the first two police detectives sent to investigate the 1994 killings of Simpson’s ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend, Ronald Goldman. Furhman reported finding a bloody glove at Simpson’s home but his credibility came under attack during the trial as the defense raised the prospect of racial bias. Under cross-examination, Fuhrman testified he had never made anti-Black racial slurs over the previous 10 years, but a recording made by an aspiring screenwriter showed he had done so repeatedly. A coroner said Monday that Fuhrman died May 12 in Idaho, where he had moved years ago. (Full story)
