SIOUX FALLS – Twelve legends of the hardwood representing several generations of South Dakota basketball excellence have been selected for induction into the South Dakota High School Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2026. The 16th annual induction ceremony is scheduled for Aug. 22 at the Ramkota Hotel in Sioux Falls.

The incoming class features a strong contingent from the Black Hills, including former Rapid City Central standout Steve Anderson and Belle Fourche star Jammie (Coyle) Raba.

Anderson, a 2000 graduate of Rapid City Central, was a force in the paint for the Cobblers. Standing 6-foot-7, he averaged 19 points and 12.5 rebounds per game during a senior season that saw Rapid City Central finish as the Class AA runner-up. Anderson was a three-time first-team all-state selection and was named South Dakota Mr. Basketball in 2000. He continued his career at the University of South Dakota, where he remains among the program leaders in rebounds and blocked shots.

Joining him is Raba, the 1995 South Dakota Miss Basketball from Belle Fourche. The 5-foot-7 point guard etched her name in the record books during the 1995 Class A state championship game, scoring 37 points to lead the Broncs to their only state title in school history. Raba finished her high school career with 1,649 points before becoming an All-American at Northern State University.

The Class of 2026 also includes Mr. Basketball honorees Chris Janssen of Emery and Lonni Stover of Webster, alongside Miss Basketball recipient Jennifer (Warkenthien) Hojer of Willow Lake.

In addition to the individual inductees, the Hall of Fame will recognize the 1975 Freeman High School boys basketball team as a Team of Excellence. Led by coach Ron Bennett and all-state players Bob Pidde and Keith Massey, the Flyers finished the 1975 season with a perfect 27-0 record and the Class B state title.
