Vernon Wayne Barry, known affectionately by everyone as “Bunny,” passed away on April 26, 2026, in Rapid City, South Dakota. Born on March 15, 1954, Bunny was a man of many passions who lived life with a vibrant spirit and a deep love for his community.
Bunny was a hardworking professional who spent many years as a forklift driver for Forest Product Distributors before eventually retiring as a plumber from Action Mechanical. Outside of work, he was a lifelong biker and a dedicated member of ABATE clubs for many years. Music was essential to his life; he attended countless concerts and took great pride in his extensive music collection. When he wasn’t on his Harley or listening to music, Bunny could often be found working on cars, fishing, or hunting for treasures at thrift stores.
He is survived by his children, Melanie Hadley and Melissa Hadley; his grandchildren, Jenna Hadley, Breanna Fuslseth, Kendra Bies, and Alyssa Carroll; and his siblings, Darlene Barry, Marilyn Barry, Sherrie Hartnek, Jerry (Lisa) Barry, Duane Barry, and Karess (Joe) Mathews. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
Bunny was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Barry and Nancy Queener; his grandson, Tyler Hadley; and his siblings, Thema Twiss, Donnie Barry, Elaine Twiss, and Mike Frieze.
At Bunny’s request, cremation has taken place. Services are currently pending for a later date. Friends and family are encouraged to share memories and condolences as they celebrate the life of a man who truly marched to the beat of his own drum.
