Vikings move to 2-0 as defense leads the way

The Minnesota Vikings are 2-0, and the mood around the “Vikings Water Cooler Talk with Stitch and BJ” is understandably upbeat.

During their latest “Over Reaction” episode, Stitch and BJ broke down Minnesota’s weather-soaked win over the Chicago Bears, pointing to the Vikings defense as the biggest reason for the team’s undefeated start.

The Bears entered the matchup after scoring 59 points in Week 1, but Minnesota held Chicago to just three. Stitch and BJ credited the Vikings with adjusting their defensive approach against mobile quarterback Caleb Williams and praised Dallas Turner, who capped a strong performance with a late sack to help seal the victory.

Isaiah Rodgers and Jalen Redmond also earned praise for impact plays, while the hosts highlighted the depth Minnesota continues to show defensively.

Offensively, veteran Carson Wentz again provided steady play without turning the football over, while running back Aaron Jones carried much of the load. The hosts credited Jones and Minnesota’s offensive line for keeping the offense moving despite difficult rain and wind.

The quarterback conversation, however, is about to change again.

Kyler Murray has been cleared and is expected to return to the lineup for Week 3 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Stitch and BJ agreed that Minnesota needs to see what Murray can do as the starter, even after Wentz helped guide the Vikings through the first two weeks.

They also discussed J.J. McCarthy’s quiet move down the depth chart, viewing his current role as an opportunity to continue developing rather than an indication that his future in Minnesota is over.

With the Vikings 2-0 — and 2-0 inside the NFC North — optimism is growing. Stitch and BJ even raised the possibility of Minnesota reaching its bye week undefeated, although both acknowledged how quickly things can change in the NFL.

Minnesota now turns its attention to Tampa Bay as Murray prepares to return under center.
