RAPID CITY, S.D. — Motorists traveling on West Chicago Street should expect lane closures and traffic delays beginning Monday as city crews conduct curb and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) upgrades.

According to the Rapid City Municipal Government, crews from the Rapid City Streets Division have begun work on a section of West Chicago Street, resulting in the closure of the inside westbound lane between 39th Street and 40th Street.

The project is scheduled to take place Monday through Thursday, June 15-18, before pausing and resuming the following week from June 22-26. The improvements are part of ongoing efforts to upgrade pedestrian accessibility and infrastructure in the area.

Traffic control measures will be in place throughout the construction period. City officials are encouraging drivers to use caution when traveling through the work zone and to be aware of changing traffic patterns.

The lane closure will remain in effect during active construction periods, and motorists may experience minor delays while work is underway.
