RAPID CITY, SD – The Rapid City YMCA is getting into the Halloween spirit hosting their 1st Annual Halloween Spooktacular.

The Spooktacular is a free, family-friendly community event on Friday, Oct. 16 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Rapid City YMCA, 815 Kansas City Street.

Costumes are encouraged, and everyone is welcome to join in the fun – YMCA membership is not required to participate in the Spooktacular.

Families are invited to celebrate Halloween with games, activities, facepainting, crafts, music, treats, and plenty of festive surprises.

Activities including a cosmic glow dance party, floating pumpkin patch in the family pool, pumpkin decorating, Halloween arts and crafts and music/snacks will be scheduled around the Y facility during the event.

“We used to have these events held separately, and we’ve brought them together for a one-night event that may be more convenient for families to attend,” Elaina Kempin, Chief Development Officer, YMCA of the Black Hills said. “This event showcases our mission in action as we’re bringing community together for an activity that builds healthy mind, spirit and body – open to all! And we’ll introduce what we have to offer at the Y to the community.”

In addition to the Spooktacular, the Y is also hosting its first Candy Cornhole tournament on Friday, Oct. 23 from 5:30-8:30PM. Teams can join for only $5 each person and anyone age 10+ is welcome to play.
