RAPID CITY, SD — This week, Rapid City’s very own Youth and Family Services Has Been hard at work on a yearly tradition, making cookies for over 1,000 donors.
The nonprofit founded in 1965, who pride themselves on aiding childhood development has had its work cut out for them, owing to significant funding coming from private donors. “We’ve had a team baking cookies 8-10 hours a day for the last two days,” said YFS Communications Coordinator Jeremy LeLaCheur, “They finished up this morning and a lot of the YFS staff have been frosting since”. With deliveries set to continue to at least Thursday, totalling 1,036 boxes of a dozen, or over 12,432 (with a few extras, just in case).
“We’re just so grateful that we live in a community who recognizes others, not just as strangers, but as like family in that we take care of each other.” said LeLaCheur “I’m just so glad to get to live in a community like that, and get to work for an organization that gets to help people.”
